The third brand-new Liebherr LR11000 crawler crane to join the WASEL fleet shows off its strength at a wind farm in the village of Sulzbach-Laufen in southern Germany. With an impressive load capacity of 1,000 t and its special equipment, the crane is perfectly designed for use in the most challenging wind farm construction projects.
The crawler crane, manoeuvrable even when fully loaded, puts in an impressive performance as it lifts steel segments weighing 68 tons, the 80-ton turbine house and the generator of the wind turbine weighing 125 tons. In a next step, the crane was erected with a roller head height of 189 metres to safely hoist and precisely move the 78-metre long rotor blades, each weighing 25 tons, into position with the help of a special cross beam.
WASEL teams have been using state-of-the-art lifting technology for many decades to ensure the successful and safe completion of even the most challenging infrastructure projects. With the purchase of the new LR11000 crawler crane, WASEL is solidifying its position as a reliable partner for the construction of power plants that use sustainable resources.
Below you can also find a video documenting the project highlights:
The assembly of the 25 t rotor blades involved the use of a special cross beam at a height of approx. 180 metres.
