The shipping authority refurbishes a lock on the Rhine-Herne Canal

“The operation at the northern lock in Gelsenkirchen was part of the first construction stage of the renovation of the double lock here on the Rhine-Herne Canal,” explains Ralf Keller, responsible for technical field service at WASEL. Our LTM 1500 was used to hoist the double lock gate refurbished by our customer, which had a unit weight of approx. 45 t, into position for reassembly. The operation at the northern lock lasted a total of three days. The second construction stage, which will involve the refurbishment of the southern lock, is due to take place in mid-September 2023.
